Shock at death of Wallasey model, 19

THE death of a young, successful model created shock and bewilderment this week.

Jenny Grant, 19, was found dead at her Wallasey home in Leasowe Road on Saturday at 4am.

Police had to force their way in after being alerted to a problem by a member of the public.

It is believed the former student at Weatherhead Media Arts College in Wallasey took her own life, devastating family and friends.

Jenny won The Sun newspaper's Page Three Idol contest this year and was studying criminology and psychology at Lancaster University.

Just days before her death, she had arrived home from a photo shoot in Tobago for a new calendar and had told friends how fantastic it was.

Kyle Birch, 18, of Wallasey, had been friends with Jenny for six years.

He said: "I spoke to her on Thursday and she was telling me how amazing the photo shoot was.

"She knew everyone from Wallasey who was around her age and was always out dancing and socialising with friends.

"I think the whole of Wallasey aged between 18 and 20 is in total shock.

"She was such an amazing person - she was like a ray of sunshine.

"We don't know where this came from because she always looked so happy - you could never be down when she was around.

"There were times during the summer holidays when Jenny would come to my house every day and she'd get on with everyone so well - she never seemed to have any problems.

"No one knew about her modelling career until she won the Page Three Idol, she kept it quiet and when we all found out, she never got big headed."

A spokesman for Girl Management, who represented Jenny, said: "She was a girl with a lot of potential not just in her modelling, but life in general."
